Watching Ruby World Cup in an Italian Pub

Posted by jaronliu on September 15, 2007

The match was England vs. South Africa. The score was 36 to zero. This guy mrmalique gave quite a good short and sweet review of the match.

Anyhow, thats besides the point. What I want to talk about is the difference between watching a live match in Sg Pub and in Italy Pub.

1. The beer is reasonably priced at 5 euros for a 500mL draft. Dollar for dollar I think it is really hard to find such prices in Sg pub.

2. There is free flow of tibits like chips, popcorns, bread, pickles, etc etc. I doubt there are any pubs in Sg which gives free flow of tibits when you just buy 1 mug of beer.

3. The place is full but not crowded – everyone gets to sit and have a space to put your beer and tibits. In Sg, I always have to stand with my hand holding on to the beer, seats and tables always have the reserved sign on it even though its empty.

4. The only small complain I have is that their tv set is a little small – even the supposedly very new lcd tv set is only at most 40 inch or so. In Sg, live matches are always shown in super big screens.

To conclude, its quite a nice experience and I will try go again for some big time soccer match in the future.
